Molly the 3 legged pony arrives at Walter Reid Hospital thanks to a TPPC.tv Sponsorship. Continued...

Molly the Pony on sponsored by TPPC.tv

Linda and Molly were comparing their prosthesis while Linda presented the sponsorship check from TPPC.TV to Kaye Harris, Kids and Ponies-Molly’s Foundation.

The photo above features Molly’s traveling companion Doodle Bug (a pony) and Ruby (a dog) also at Mologne House.

It was a very moving program. We were privileged to be part of this inspiring visit and extremely grateful to TPPC.TV for their sponsorship contribution.

A special thanks to Linda Blick for providing us with these pictures and special report.  For more information about Molly the Pony go to
www.mollythepony.com.  Molly's mom, Kaye wrote a lovely book as well, which you can purchase from her site.  For more information about Tails of Hope Foundation, go to www.TailsofHopeFoundation.org

Update*****We just received this heartbreaking email today, almost on Christmas Eve.  Please read...

Molly’s family and program cannot get a break.  They received 20 inches of rain in the past 30 days.  The equines were standing in knee deep water when Kaye returned home two days ago.  Kaye ordered sand so the horses/ponies could have a dry place to stand, but the $600.00 bill is straining their budget.  If you can post a story on TPPC.TV asking for ER donations it would be deeply appreciated.  Kaye and Molly’s Foundation have 20 horses many rescues including Molly.

Story

Molly, a victim and survivor of Katrina, is one of three known equine amputees in the world and the only known amputee equine therapy animal.  She is an inspiration to all who meet her especially ill children, elderly in nursing homes and wounded military.  Since her amputation in January 2006 Molly has made more than 40 visits to those in need.  http://www.mollythepony.com/

Molly just returned from a TPPC.TV and Tails of Hope Foundation sponsored therapy visit to Washington, DC with wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Caisson Therapy Riding Program, Fort Myer, VA (http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/1209/686255_video.html)                      and Lift Me Up Therapy Riding Program, VA.  While Kaye Harris, Molly’s caretaker and Founder of Kids and Ponies-Molly’s Foundation, was away their LA home and stables were once again severely damaged by nature for the third time in the past 4 years-Katrina (2005), Gustav (2008) and now the most recent rains.  According to ABC news:

In the last 30 days, areas of the parish received at least 20 inches of rain, with some receiving 600 percent of their normal rainfall amounts, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.  ttp://www.abc26.com/news/local/wgno-news-st-charles-flooding-update-story,0,3606187.story

Kaye’s family and the foundation are still recovering from Katrina and Gustav and NOW NEED HELP to purchase desperately needed sand so Molly and the 19 other equines, many rescued, will have a dry paddock.

If you can, please help Molly through Kids and Ponies - Molly’s Foundation (LA registered 501 C 3) by donating as generously as you can to http://www.mollythepony.com/.

Thanks Robbin and Joe for anything you can do.

With huge appreciation,

Linda

This is called 'Faith'. His name is Faith!

This dog was born on Christmas Eve in the year 2002. He was born with 3 legs - 2 healthy hind legs and 1 abnormal front leg which need to be amputated. He of course could not walk when he was born. Even his mother did not want him. His first owner also did not think that he can survive. Therefore, he was thinking of 'putting him to sleep'. By this time, his present owner Stringfellow met him and wanted to take care of him. She is determined to teach and train this dog to walk by himself. Therefore she named him 'Faith'.

In the beginning, she put Faith on a surfing board to let him feel the movements. Later she used peanut butter on a spoon as a lure and reward for him to stand up and jump around. Even the other dog at home also helped to encourage him to walk. Amazingly, only after 6 months, like a miracle, Faith learned to balance on his 2 hind legs and jumped to move forward. After further training in the snow, he now can walk like a human being.

Faith loves to walk around now. No matter where he goes, he just attracts all the people around him. He is now becoming famous on the international scene. He has appeared on various newspapers and TV shows. There is even one book entitled 'With a little faith' being published about him.His present owner Jude Stringfellew has given up her teaching post and plans to take him around the world to preach that even without a perfect body, one can have a 'perfect soul'.

It's all about Perspective

THE BUZZARD:

If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and
is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its
ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is
that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a
run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit,
it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner
for life in a small jail with no top.

THE BAT:

The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable
nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level
place.  If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it
can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully,
until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can
throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like
 a flash.

THE BUMBLEBEE:

A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there
until it dies, unless it is taken out.  It never sees the
means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find
some way out through the sides near the bottom.  It will
seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys
 itself.

 PEOPLE:

In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the
bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and
frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look
up!  That's the answer, the escape route and the solution
to any problem!  Just look up.

Just a Dog

Dog’s Purpose-submitted by M.D. in N.J.

Posted in Pets Teach: September 18th, 2008

This tale…tail…is beautiful.

Dog’s Purpose (from a 6-year old).

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year- old
Irish Wolf hound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa,
and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they
were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family
we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the
euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be
good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure.
They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker’s
family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for
the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was s going on.
Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any
difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s
Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are
shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped
up, ‘I know why.’

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next
stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, ‘People are born so that they can learn how to live a good
Life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?’ The
Six-year-old continued, ‘Well, dogs already know how to do that, so
they don’t have to stay as long.’

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure
Ecstasy..

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you’re not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle
them gently.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!
